The Air Oasis™ air purification units do not require noisy high speed fans in order to clean the air in your home or office. The fans utilized in our units simply push the negative ions and redundant oxidizers created into the air which then radiate through your entire home constantly destroying air borne and surface contaminants. Since the cleaning agents are present in your air 24/7 the air is constantly being cleaned without having to pass through the unit. This makes our units extremely effective yet extremely compact in size so they can fit easily into your home decor without becoming a main focal point. Additionally, CADR (clean air delivery rate) is also a word of the past with our advanced technology since it is a measure of air pulled through a filter.
Benefits of using Air Oasis™ air purifier technology over competition: Lower total cost, no yearly maintenance, no installation nnecessary, airborne hydro peroxides, super oxide ions and hydroxide ions travel through the house providing 24-hour protection against airborne mold, bacteria, viruses, odors and VOC?s. The cell also acts as a germicidal lamp and treats any air that passes through it.
Technology - HEPA Filters:
HEPA filters are one of the most widely-known methods of air cleaning. HEPA is an acronym for "High Efficiency Particulate Air" Filter, used in the late 1930's by the US military. A HEPA filter is made from a continuous sheet of a special filter medium, glass-fiber, which is pleated to form a "zig-zag" pattern. HEPA filters are extremely fragile, subject to possible damage any time the filter is handled or jostled. HEPA filters are simply that - filters - and are designed ONLY to FILTER larger (0.3 and above) micron-sized particulates from the air. Even the larger hepa air filters cover only a single room, or at the most, a small apartment. This is because in order for the air to be cleaned, it must pass through the filter. HEPA filters cannot be cleaned, they must be replaced as a complete assembly.
HEPA filters work good within their limits and can work great in conjunction with the Air Oasis™ air purifier technologies.
Top of PageTechnology - Ozone:
Corona discharge is a process where ozone is created resulting from extremely high voltages, usually 5000-15000 volts AC. It is similar to a method our atmosphere uses to replenish ozone, lightning. The continual high voltage current used to drive the ozone generation is highly variable, making it difficult to control the ozone output levels and nearly impossible to limit ozone production to safe levels. Fragile glass plates are used in most corona discharge units that must be kept clean to be effective. Nitrogen compounds, such as nitric acid, are also created in this process. These compounds range from malodorous to dangerous.
Top of PageTechnology - Negative Ions:
As with ozone generation, negative ion generation can be accomplished with high voltage corona discharge, or needle point ionization. These high voltage devices suffer the same control challenges as the ozone generators (they generate both ions and ozone). Negative ion generators can effectively remove the particulates from your environment but lack the ability to destroy odors or germs.
Top of PageTechnology - Ultraviolet Light
Ultraviolet light rays are generated in nature by the sun and are one of nature's methods of purifying the air we breathe. Ultraviolet light rays with specific wave lengths are germicidal, destroying viruses, bacteria, and fungi. The ultraviolet component of sunlight is the main reason microbes die in the outdoor air. The ultraviolet energy available from ultraviolet lamps; however, is a much more concentrated and powerful level of UV energy than found in sunlight. UV light has been used for many years by the medical field to sanitize rooms and equipment. Ultraviolet light will sanitize air that is directly in its path.
The use of UV, or more specifically ultraviolet germicidal irradiation(UVGI), for the sterilization of microorganisms has been studied since the 1930's, and has been used to kill the same kind of microorganisms that are known to cause indoor air quality (IAQ) problems. The quanta of energy that ultraviolet light possesses is just the right amount of energy to break organic molecular bonds, resulting in cellular or genetic damage to the microorganisms. This damage will either cause the death of the microorganism, or render it sterile and severely weakened.
Ultraviolet light in the short wavelength form (UVC or UVGI) is primarily used for the destruction of bacteria and other microorganisms in air, liquids, and on surfaces. UV kills mold spores. Continuous dosing with UVGI can have a major impact on airborne viruses and bacteria. UV can eliminate musty, mold related odors; prevent the development of Legionella and other infectious diseases; control the proliferation of the TB bacterium; and reduce the spread of cold and flu viruses as well as other airborne diseases. UVGI lamps can destroy ANY microorganisms that absorbs enough of its powerful rays. This method is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for its germicidal effects.
Using ultraviolet light is using the science of photochemistry. Photochemistry is the chemical reaction or change in a material induced by the radiation of light energy. The correct wavelength of UV light will cause organic molecules to eject electrons, causing the molecules to destabilize and break apart. Correct utilization of the ultraviolet wavelengths can dramatically improve indoor air quality through microbial destruction and breaking down almost all organic contaminants.
Top of PageTechnology - AHPCO
The Air Oasis™ air purifiers utilize a unique, state-of-the-art technology : AHPCO™ (Advanced Hydrated PhotoCatalytic Oxidation) Cell. Basically, it is a broad spectrum high intensity UV light targeted on a hydrophilic gel catalyst in a low-level ozone and moist atmosphere. This creates an advanced oxidation of friendly oxidizers. More than ozone, these oxidizers are safe, but yet aggressive at killing mold, bacteria, viruses and more. They also effectively neutralize odors and VOCs. In the process of doing their job of breaking down contaminants they revert back to oxygen and hydrogen. AHPCO™ technology has been successfully used in air, food, water and laundry applications.
The AHPCO™ Cell technology is far superior to the stand alone UV lamps and other catalytic oxidation methods with minimal catalyst(s) used in competing air purifiers. The latest advanced oxidation technology that utilizes this proprietary, high-intensity broad spectrum UV lamp in a hydrated catalytic cell is the patent-pending nano Nickel HCT™ coating. Ozone is produced in the cell via the HE/UV lamp, the majority of which is converted into airborne hydro peroxides (H2O2), hydroxyl ions(OH-), super oxide ions(O2-) and ozonide ions(O3-) via the nano Nickel HCT™ catalyst.
Developed in 2003, the AHPCO™ Cell used a totally new hydration compound target concept. A 360 degree cell provided maximum exposure of the catalysts. The bulb was also reworked and a HE/UV Broad Spectrum bulb with a heavy duty filament and long life coating was developed. This gave the new AHPCO™ Cell an unprecedented 3 year, 25,000 hour life. This was a major improvement over the current standard 8,000-10,000 hour UV bulb life. The most important improvement was the efficacy, the new cell design created more hydro peroxides, super oxide ions and ozone levels were .01-.015 ppm or less*. Country or forest air is usually around .01-.02 ppm of ozone. Most people can smell ozone at .01 ppm, and .05 ppm is the federal safe limit for medical devices. The new cell also produces hydroxide ions and ozonide ions which broadened the scope of capabilities. By using a AHPCO™ Cell with redundant oxidizers our scope of effectiveness is widely broadened.
*Note 1: Federal safety limits are .05 ppm. At .02 ppm or less this is not considered an ozone device.
Top of PageTechnology - nano Nickel HCT™
The introduction of the AHPCO™ Cell concept in 2003 accompanied an advancement in the target coating. Rhodium was added to titanium dioxide and other metals to broaden the catalytic range, and improved hydration compounds were also added.
In March of 2006 the nano Nickel Hydrated Catalytic Technology (HCT)™ catalyst coating was introduced - The next generation in catalytic oxidation air purifier technology. With this new patent-pending coating a fifth powerful catalyst metal was added to the most effective AHPCO™ formulation available. Particle size of the metals was also reduced down to a nanosize particle in order to increase the surface area and therefore increase the kinetic rate of reaction. The hydrophilic gel was also improved to further hydrate the coating and react in combination with the metal catalysts (by donating hydrogen to the ozone) to decompose ozone to form hydroxide ions, and radicals, as well as hydro peroxides, such as the HO2 radical and hydrogen peroxides, which are desirable reaction products from the decomposition of ozone due to their strong oxidizing properties, which enhances the germicidal effect of UV radiation.
While competitors are using TiO2 alone with no hydrating agents or other less effective catalyst coatings, Air Oasis™ is setting the trend for the next generation of air purifiers.
Children are more likely than adults to be affected by polluted indoor
air. They breathe faster, inhale more air per unit of body weight, and
are closer to the ground where concentrations are higher. (Department of
Consumer Affairs)
Documented by the Environmental Protection Agency as well as
countless scientific studies, indoor air pollution is one of
today's most common sources of toxins, bacteria, viruses,
particulates, mold and other fungi.
Most commercially purchased fiberglass filters are only 7%
efficient in stopping dirt, dust, pollen, etc. passing through
them. (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning
